Using our business to support UK food banks

A little bit about us; we’re Splash, a father and son business specialising in hygiene products for your tech and home since 2014. We supply major retailers including EE, Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone, as well as e-commerce channels including our website.

Like pretty much everyone else, 2020 has been one of the strangest and most challenging years of our lives. I remember thinking Brexit posed the biggest obstacle this country had faced in our lifetime, but that seems to have paled into insignificance now!

There are often moments or events that make things sink in or hit home in times like this. As a business we’re very active on LinkedIn, and this may seem silly to you, but it really hit home for us when we saw the sheer volume of people out of work and looking for jobs as a result of Covid. It’s not that we didn’t believe the impact that it was having, but to see what was happening in front of our eyes on a daily basis was quite shocking to be honest. We wished we could have done something to help people, but the size of our business simply didn’t allow it.

Then came the governments decision to retract its support of free school meals, leaving so many families hungry and living in fear as to how they’ll feed their children. You’ll likely have already read plenty on this so we don’t need to go into detail, but suffice to say this decision is completely despicable and deplorable. We immediately decided how we could help.

As of Monday this week (26.10.20) we are donating 10% of trade profits (orders from retailers and distributors) and 20% of website sale profits to a food bank local to us in Northampton — https://localgiving.org/charity/restorenorthampton/

We will really appreciate as many shares and interactions as possible. The more people that see this, engage and get involved, the more families we can help
